When We Are Closed
The doctors provide cover every day during normal working hours. A doctor is always available in an emergency for advice or a visit if they consider it necessary. An out-of-hours service during the evenings and weekends is available from Newark Hospital up until midnight and from Mansfield after midnight.
If you require urgent advice out of surgery hours, you will be directed to the correct number to call by dialling the surgery number (01636 704378). The recorded message will repeat the number but you will need to ensure that you have a pen and paper to hand. Please only call the doctor if your problem is a genuine emergency and cannot wait until the surgery is open. Alternatively, you can ring the Out of Hourse service direct on 03000 241113.
Should you have any problem getting through to the doctor please telephone Newark Hospital on 01636 681681 and tell them you are trying to contact the duty doctor for the Fountain Medical Centre.
NHS Direct
In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call
NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
